I don’t agree. God loved us all without any conditions or expectations. When people don’t return his love it’s not exploitation, manipulation or using, it’s rejection. Love is love. Returned or not returned. If it is real love in its purest form then it is unconditional & perfect. True, pure and perfect love does not require reciprocity.
God does love us all along. But the way he shows us and the what we’re given through his love is extremely dependent on how we accept that love and show it in return to him.
What I’m talking about in this post is when we’re offered love by someone, whether it’s companionship or gifts or service or whatever. And we just take those things with little to no value because we have little to no value or care for the person who is giving them. That’s treating someone as if they’re almost worthless. That’s the using I’m talking about.
Yes, God loves us always. But God doesn’t give us himself so we can just take him or leave him at our whim. Accepting his love requires us returning love to him.
The point I’m trying to make here is that if it is true love, it will be shown to the receiver for quite a long time in order to break through whatever walls there are in place. Or to change a mind that is made up against the love that is being given. Love is patient. Love is long suffering. Love does not keep records of wrong. Love, in my opinion is persistent. God doesn’t give us a short period of time to see things his way and then turn his back on us if we don’t accept him right away. He will woo us for a whole lifetime if that’s what it takes for us to see that He is Love. He is always there and his love is always there waiting for us to accept it. Sometimes people are just to blind to see it, but it doesn’t mean that it is taken away or that any of his gifts for us are taken away simply because we do not accept Him right away. His love is everlasting. Without fail.
Maybe it’s none of my business. Maybe you’re referring to “puppy love”. Maybe you’re referring to this selfish obsessive behavior that seems to run rampant. But Love?
God is Love my brother. And if that understanding isn’t enough to heal and thrill you, well… prayer helps…

I think you’re right.
